BP Oil Disaster-Day 44

On the 44th day of BP’s bungling:

The blade of a diamond wire cutter being used to slice off the damaged riser pipe got stuck — much like a saw on a tree limb — and stalled the “cut and cap” operation, said U.S. Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the federal government’s point man in the Gulf.

  • Oil expected to hit Florida coastline in the next couple of days
  • Roughly 31% of the Gulf is now closed to fishing.

This will be a daily update until the oil leak is stopped or BP no longer exists…whichever happens first.

I don’t know if you saw where BP had something like 750 critical violations in the past few years – as compared to the 1-8 range of BP’s competitors. British Petroleum is terrible even when compared to other God-awful, soulless oil companies. That is quite a feat.
